Tomato Basil Cooler

Certain flavors were just born to go together, like summer garden tomatoes and fragrant basil. Locally Preserved Tomato Basil Syrup spiked with Cathead Vodka makes an eye-opening brunch cocktail or brilliant sunset refreshment. The crowds went kookoo for this at the 2015 Creole Tomato Festival in the French Market. 

1.5 ozs. Cathead Vodka

1 oz. Locally Preserved Tomato Basil Syrup

2 ozs. club soda

1 basil leaf to garnish (optional

Combine all of the ingredients in a shaker filled halfway with ice. Shake gently and strain or pour into a rocks glass over fresh ice. Garnish with the basil leaf.
